About Me

Hello! I am a student of A2 Media Studies and my name is Zainab Fatima. I am a visual storyteller, cultural expressor, and silent proponent of unspoken feelings. Since I belong from the province of Gilgit Baltistan, I will chronicle my experience on making my short film Attabad to Ajrak, a poetic romantic drama that is based on the breathtaking scenery of Attabad Lake and the symbolic legacy of the Ajrak. The story is inspired solely on my parents love story where my mom belonged from Sindh and my dad from the valleys of Gilgit Baltistan. In this blog I will discuss my research, creative choices, creative process, and thoughts in my attempt to make this film happen in reality. I wanted to built my film on how silence, culture and colours of the North told stories. Being a film director in the pipeline, I want to film the authenticity and the emotion with the help of the nuanced acting, the natural settings, and the sensitive symbolism of both of my roots; Sindh & Gilgit. It is also one of my objectives in film making to showcase the beauty of Pakistan and to promote it on a larger scale to the world, showing how heavenly Pakistan and its culture really is. Attabad to Ajrak is just not a film project for me but its a inspirational tribute to my parent’s love, both depiction of my cultural roots and a passion to visually storytell my passion of filming.

My Experience in Media,

I have been also working in Media since, I was 16 years old with well known singer Hasan Raheem, Because of him being related to me by blood from my dad’s side, I have worked in managing his creative ideas in his music videos and live concerts to gain experience and exposure in this field. Other than that I am also the media creator of hotels in Gilgit Baltistan, grateful of my father being the tourist minister of the province, I would be managing and creating the videos and pitching in ideas to promote my family business & aswell as other private hotels nation and global wide. Recently I have been also promoted by, Hasan Raheem as the head creative director of his page @hasanraheemglobal. Being blessed by my family relations and support I try my best to put in effort in this project and the future ones aswell as I’m passionate to learn the art of media and filmmaking.
